Worldspine Wurm, 2020

And to round out the set, here is Worldspine Wurm - painted for Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair Summer Drop. This is the final confrontation between the hero and his nemesis, the world ending calamity.

"The moment of glory or death, the moment to maim or be put to rest."

I took a lot of inspiration for the designs of 'Nemesis of Reason' and 'Worldspine Wurm' from the horrific concept art behind the film Shin-Godzilla. Hopefully some of the darker themes behind those choices manage to find some resonance in this series as well.
